This vacation home which is only accessible by boat is located near a small island on Lake Huron in Canada. Desgined by
MOS architects, the floating house floats on steel pontoons which allow it to fluctuate along with the lake when water levels change. The island house, which has been described as a “necklace” of buildings strung around the island – a main cottage with an integrated boathouse and dock, and a series of separate cottages to accommodate the many overnight guests that clamber to spend summers here. The timber cottage blends with its surroundings, which appear untouched, providing the perfect getaway. The interior, just 1,250 sq. ft., is also wood-clad – walls, ceilings, floors, and even the bathroom fixtures. I personally wouldn't mind staying here for a nice summer getaway. See more pictures at

In art of design concepts the use of environmental sounds solutions are on the rise.
Design Hara is one of those companies who was looking to make a small and stylish computer that was built with recyclable green material. This eco-friendly computer has a recyclable green chassis and uses only harmless materials, such as natural wood for the side panels which are not chemically antiseptic treated. The front cover of the computer can be made from natural sheep leather if you so chose. The internal segments of the PC are connected by a bolts and nuts structure, making it easier to separate so recyclable e-waste can be removed.
The unit is compatible with Mini-ITX small motherboards, and uses only a third of the energy consumed by desktop computers. It also features HDMI and DVI outputs and has an Intel Core2Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.

During the weekend I had a conversation with someone concerning matchboxes and the art that gave the matchbox the vintage feel. So today I found
Jerogot + Gotroch collection of matchboxes. Jerogot + Gotroch created 178 unique vintage-inspired matchbook designs for a music video for the Navigators. Which you can see below.
I personally can say that I enjoyed almost all of them and the style and color choices hit the spot for me. It's also interesting to see them as a complete set which I could definitely get lost in this complete set for a while. If you want to check out more of their work then check out their
Flickr stream.

Tanya Johnston is a graphic designer based in Montreal who use various visual aesthetics to capture your attention. Through pictorial and graphic processes she explores the realm of reality and illusion as reality. She states that she like to frequently combine the techniques of drawing, painting and digital imaging to illustrate and communicate a non-linear vision of thought and space.
Tanya's work immediately caught my attention with her use of visual depth and balance in her works and I also enjoy finding jems like these. Don't forget to check out her
portfolio it's sure to hold more jems then what is posted here.

The
Arcade tables ($3,000-$3,400) are the answer to those clunky old video arcade games that only plays one game and take up a lot of space. Not these arcade tables they give a modern look to an old classic without taking up a lot of space. They will blend nicely in your man cave decor. Did I also mention that it comes loaded with 60 classic games so that you can relive that misspent youth of yours and dominate the universe all over again. They are available in Classic, Custom Classic, and modern Stealth models, these cocktail-style tables offer LCD screens, high-quality joysticks, buttons, and sound systems and built-in libraries of classic games.
Stéphane Massa-Bidal (AKA Rétrofuturs (Hulk4598)) has created a set of posters depicting various popular web services as though they were vintage paperback covers. These are beautiful and they have a look like they had been sitting in someone's attic for like 40 years. Although 40 years ago none of these services actually existed. I'm just glad I got my web therapy today.
Also a couple months ago I did a post about
Rétrofuturs and his
"Life is Circle" series as well. If you want to check out that post

Stéphane and if you want follow him on

The Collective Loop is proud to start
The Collective Loop Mixed Series. So welcome to Volume I of this series. I asked my good friend
Skillz to start off this mixed series with a mix of some good old 2-Step. If you remember, I did a post about Skillz
last year almost to this date about him taking all of his vinyl and turning it into a collection of mixed speed garage sets called the
"Speed Garage Chronicles". Well he is up to Chapter 14 so if you're a Speed Garage junkie like we are then I suggest you start filling those ears with dirty basslines. In the mean time have a listen to the new mixed series below.

I was thinking about infographic yesterday and how they seem to be popping up everywhere lately. So I was perusing around the internet yesterday and came about this infographic. A graphical interpretation of
The Evolution of the Geek created by
Flowtown. You no longer just have the pocket protector geek it has evolved and spawned off all these styles of geek. So what geek style are you?
Looking below, I would say I’m a Music Geek, a Tech Geek, a Computer Geek, a Design Geek, Geek Chic and a Glee Geek
I know some of you have been waiting for this rumor to become a reality and it has. Sony has officially unveiled the
Xperia Play($TBA). The Xperia Play will be the first PlayStation certified device. The Play will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, features include a 854×480 pixel capacitive multi-touch TFT LCD display, 5.5 hours of gaming time on a single charge and a 5.1MP camera and a certified Playstation slide-out controller. Powered by 1 GHz Scorpion ARMv7 single-core CPU, 512MB of RAM and comes with an 8GB microSD card. Did I also mention that upon its debut there will be 50 launch titles that will be available plus it will come loaded with a "legendary" Playstation One title, which,
Engadget reports it will be
Crash Bandicoot.
So here becomes the real blur between dedicated mobile gaming devices and smartphones. Let the gaming begin. Is this a phone that you would be willing to rock out?

Your into making music but your looking to take it further. Well if you have an
iPad then be ready to bring your sound to the next level with the
Performer ($24.99). An app that was made by
Konkreet Labs. It allows you to control your music with a unique and intuitive multi-touch interface that let's you reshape your music on screen and in real time. There is one catch though to using this app and its that you have to actually have musical instruments for Performer to control (it connects to "anything that receives OSC or MIDI inputs," according to Konkreet).
So if you have the equipment your in for a fun surprise of making peoples jaws drop. As
Creative Applications breathlessly writes, "The heart of Performer is the control object, an abstract graphic element, made out of up to 10 nodes. Zoom, turn, throw, distort and reshape it across the screen," and listen as your synthy symphony bursts into being from your fingertips.

BMW has release some documentaries dedicated to crafting original, thought-provoking and entertaining content. These films aim to take you to a place you never truly been: the future. In this four-part documentary series they use some of the most influential scientist, academics, pioneers, and entrepreneurs of our time to give a picture of the culture technology, cities and our past and how the present was shaped relative to the future of mobility. These are dedicated in getting users actively involved in the ever-evolving conversation of the future of mobility. The first 2 chapters are up at the
Activate The Future and the final two remaining chapters will come out later this month. I have also added the first two chapters below.
Pulse news reader is an elegant application for iPhone, iPad and Andriod devices. It incorporates colorful panning story bars and fills them with content from your favorite sources. Pulse redefines news, giving you the opportunity to experience the news you desire from traditional sources, your favorite blogs and social networks – all in one beautiful interface.
I have been personally using this app for a while now. It makes checking my content easy and it gives it a more professional look. I even like how I can share right from my phone in this app without having to go to another app to share it. The guys at Alphonso Labs got it right when they set out to make mobile content less frustrating and more user friendly as well as visually pleasing.
Moritz Resl's who is currently based in Venna, Austria caught my attention with his design work of the "Bike Love" illustration. The design is simple yet very elegant. Plus, I'm a sucker for bikes and I think this is a great depiction of how people like to think of there bikes.
I have also added a couple of other works Moritz did that I think are interesting and well designed. If your interested you should definitely check out more of his work on his
Flickr or can follow him on
Twitter.
J. Mayer H. the Architect who has designed the new airport building in
Mestia did so with the intent to develop tourism in Mestia. The airport was just one of the new developments to increase the tourism in this medieval town. The construction for the new airport was completed in 3 months which is quite impressive.
The design itself is eye catching and keeps you wondering on the outside how it looks on the inside and also how it functions as an airport. It has to be such an inspiring and wondrous view from inside the building. In being that it's constructed of a lot of glass the view has to add to this buildings overall achievement as an airport.
