The summer is officially upon us and we need more music to go with our nostalgic summer memories. So here is Playlist-27 filled with upbeat tracks to store your memories of the summer of 2011. There are some fantastic tracks up in this 15 track playlist. We have some new Death Cab and Coldplay tracks. We have some other great finds like Seapony, Hey Champ, Kleerup and more. In anticipation of the second album by Memory Tapes, the music blog The Quietus has made the new album Player Piano available for your streaming pleasure. It even provides Dayve Hawk's own track-by-track guide to the record, in which he reveals the influences, and meanings behind his thought process.

It was quiet an interesting read to gauge his thoughts about his new album and the questions of why he thought that way. I like what he said about his one track "Humming", he said:

" I think I'm always trying to make my music sound to lesser and greater degrees like field recordings. I don't want to make a song that sounds like that song you heard on the radio; I want to make a song that sounds like that moment you heard the song on the radio."

I couldn't agree more on this thought. What I like about this new album is that each song has a certain feel to it. It's like each track has a life and a thought to each arrangement of sound. Each song has its own playful and twisted turns, wrong-headed arrangements and some unusual instrumentation. Memory Tapes is also one who doesn't use any sequencing software and each instrument was played by him in his home studio for this album.

Hawk's will also be debuting the new album live this summer with a full band and the Player Piano album will be released on July 5th on Something in Construction Records. Click here to listen to the whole album or check out three songs below from the new album.

This particular house located in Whistler, Canada is called the Compass Pointe House and was designed by Sean Anderson while the interior & exterior finishing touches were done by Kelly Deck.

The home with its beautiful wood floors and heated tiles and two story vaulted ceilings, how can you go wrong with that? The main areas of the home that catch my attention is the kitchen and the office room, plus the view outside is breathtaking and peaceful. This contemporary home will run you some serious cash though, about $6,490,000 to be exact.

Nick Bertke, better known on the web and music scene as Pogo has caught my attention this morning with his video called "Bloom'. It's a patchwork of vocals and musical chords from various Disney films remixed into harmony. After watching this video I started to sift through his Youtube channel and I have added the ones that I thought were cool. So happy Monday!

The vinyl collection in your home keeps growing but your old turntable just took a crap on you. So your looking to get a new turntable to jam out to your indie styled collection. How about checking out the Pro-Ject RPM 1.3 Genie Turntable ($500) to replace your broken one. It features a very stripped down design, the Genie will turn heads with its minimal design, while it quietly runs it's synchronous motor, two-step pulley, resonance optimized platter, aluminum tonearm and external power supply combined to provide some ear dropping sounds.

Since I'm a computer geek I can find humor and amazement at the new use a floppy disk can have. Nick Gentry a London based artist uses old school floppy disks to create floppy portraits and art from the obsolete technologies of societies past. The paintings are made from all recycled media so instead of buying new disk he uses what others can provide to him. He asks that if you have any old floppy disks feel free to send them to him. Better to go to art then to end up in a landfill and just be a technology lost and forgotten.

Today seemed like a Green kind of day. So with that being said, let me introduce the beautiful repurposed bottle terrariums. The artist behind these is Jose Agatep who gathers glass containers of various shapes and transforms them into beautiful terrariums that are filled with locally grown plants, wild mosses, and small stones, soil, and wood chips found in nearby forests and train tracks.

According to Agatep, the tiny self-contained ecosystems offer “a journey to ancient connections that once existed between humans and plants”. There terrarium are perfect for a small house or office desk. They are very low maintenance and only need water once in a blue moon. Condensation gets trapped on the lid and walls, so the natural water cycle occurs that brings precipitation back to the soil.

His Philadelphia-based shop The Slug and the Squirrel currently can only do pick-ups or local delivery on all sales. They are currently looking to find a delivery services that can accommodate the needs of the shop to guarantee safe delivery. This doesn't mean though that there aren't exceptions to every rule. So if you're interested in these it wouldn't hurt to ask or you could just pick one up the next time you're in Philadelphia.

Shyscapes is a beautiful and surreal short art movie that was created for Misha Shyukin graduation project. It's a stunningly dark, mysterious but mesmerizing and entrancing video. Misha recommends you don’t view it in full screen and asks you to please watch it with your eyes half closed. Either way you watch you may come to the same conclusion that it's a beautiful short video.

Transient is the word that comes to mind when I think of the works of Jim Denevan. They are short-lived as he uses the world as his landscape and use sand, ice and earth to create his geometrical sculptures. The brushes of choice can be anything from a piece of driftwood to a rake or even a bicycle. The result of using the landscape are stunning but without the remarkable location photography they would simple be a waste of time. Something that was once transient is now forever captured and that my friend is not a waste of time.

Here is another tidbit about Jim Denevan he is man behind the the traveling outdoor dining experience Outstanding in the Field. It's sort of traveling dinner event that sets up shop in farms, gardens, and other interesting dinning location across the U.S. They currently are doing a New tour for 2011 so maybe you can check it out this year.

Computer virus are known by many to be a big pain in the you know what. They cause people nothing but headaches and time, however in this video Hungry Beast talks about the Stuxnet virus the first every weapons virus. It's more of an infographic type video that captivates your interest with visual information. The actual visual information in this video is really well develop, but the story being told is just as fascinating and true.

Junip played at the Crowbar in Ybor on June 18th with King of Spain and Helado Negro and let me be the first to say it was a great evening.  The first band to play was a local Tampa ambient/experimental duo King of Spain. They played a relaxing but electro-folk sound that seem to get the crowd ready for an evening of notable music. What was even more notable was the bands choice to sell copies of their new EP Peeks on a cassette tape, but don't you worry they gave you a mp3 download code to go with it. Just in case your dad threw out his cassette player.

The next performer of the night was Helado Negro, who I hadn't heard of before but was willing to give it a listen. I'm glad I did because his live pa set gave an overall uplifting energy. I do have to admit that his vocals were in Spanish so for the most part I didn't understand a word he was singing, however with his vocal effects it made it sound soothing and it didn't really matter what he was singing.

Then we have Junip, who sound just as good live as they do on their album. The band was on point all night and José González was wooing the ladies with his soothing vocals. Nothing but screaming indie girl just waiting for a chance to have him sweep them off their feet with his voice. Junip for the most part though played popular tracks off their album Fields, like "In Every Direction", "Rope and Summit" and more. I personally can't complain because if you don't have the 3 disc album it's a must have in your dark moody indie folk collection. Overall this show had great acts who brought nothing but their A game and I applaud you Aestheticized for your great choice in music.

I stumble upon the works of Patrik Svensson a.k.a (Prince Hat) and his series of minimalistic movie typography posters. In this series he tries to visualize the movie by using only the first letter(s) from the title, for example the i from "The Insider" as the shape of a cigarette, or the two k's from "The Karate Kid" as two fighting karate kids.

This series provides space which is great because sometimes less is more in the design world. People are sometimes just looking for something to fill that space, but if you take out all that noise. You can then direct your vision on something that's actually worth focusing on.

Bronia Sawyer's book sculptures are just fantastic. I personally didn't know you could craft something as detailed and elegant as these book sculptures. Each sculpture has such great colors, folds and rolls to create these birds and flowers. It's very intriguing as well to hear her take on why she got into designing book sculptures.

I love to take something like a book and turning it in to something visually pleasing. With book sculpture I like the fact that books are flat and square they have order but by cutting them and folding them you can create organic and random shapes. I also like to add colors but mainly for the way it looks in photographs.

Kristian Jones series Lost in Youth is quiet interesting. His take on these is exploring the modern youth culture and the imagination of the youth. This series has that minimal feel to them but also has an impact of understanding the youth of having a blob friend or spilling your ice cream.

An Australian designer Chris Malloy claims to have built a real Hoverbike. This hoverbike is powered by a 1170 cc engine and is capable of lifting 595 pound off the ground. It can be expect to travel at an upwards of 170 mph, and you can take it to 10,000 feet or maybe even higher. It weighs in at about 242 pounds which is actually light and the body is made of carbon fiber and kevlar-wrapped foam. There currently is no price tag yet for this bad boy. It's still in the testings phase but if you really can't wait and would like to purchase a Hoverbike, they can build you a working prototype. So happy hovering.

Santa Monica architect Ray Kappa has put some modern in this module home. The RK1 is a two story 5 bedrooms 4 bath home with simple lines, open spaces and lots of glass. The home also has multiple decks with indoor and outdoor space with a roof-top green space.

Living Homes worked with Ray to create this modular home which, has eleven pieces to it and weighs over 10,000 pounds, it only took about eight hours to assemble this house. So for $590,000 you can have a brand new home built for you in less than eight hours. That is quite interesting.

The City Cycle is a unique party bus that allows 14 people to drink beer while they pedal and power the vehicle.

This concept was inspired by a similar invention like the pedal pub and beer bike. Although this pedal powered bar has adjustable chairs, six loud speakers, LED lighting and a spot for the DD to steer drunken peddlers. It was created to appeal to bike riders, beer connoisseurs and more. Well I'm on board, I want to take a drunken ride on this City Cycle.
