The Alternative Limb Project founded by Sophie Oliveira Barata creates unique prosthetic arms and legs that become a form of self-expression. The modern artificial limbs were designed to look like beautiful works of art empowered by the wearer and inspire positive dialogue about the human body.

DJ TechTools have updated their original MIDI Fighter controller and added a 3D gyroscope to their arcade button Midi Fighter midi controller. This will now allow DJs to change parameters like pitch, volume and effects to be controlled by simply moving it around. To me this would only be for DJs who don't like spending most of their time dancing around their laptop screen.
The Midi Fighter 3D includes a 16-button array of arcade-like buttons, that can be used as midi triggers and can be configured to any style of color theme that you would like, just in case one color was not enough to keep you focused. The midi controller will run you about $250, shipping sometime in April. So if you don't want to stand behind your laptop screen the whole time and you want to dance with your audience then this bad boy is for you!

Jeremy Kool is the 3D artist and graphic designer behind "The Paper Fox Project". His aim is to create a children's picture book for the iPad and Android tablets to be release in 2012. The art style used in this book is quite unique and is created digitally to make it look like paper-craft and origami. I think this is a neat project. If you want to help fund his project or find out more info you can check it out on Pozible or on his blog.

I have stumbled upon another 3D Pumpkin Carver, Scott Cummins who transforms pumpkins into three-dimensiona masterpieces. He will make anything from animals, humans, and fictional characters as you can see below. On his website he even goes into detail with tutorials on his tools and process of creating these 3D pumpkins. If you get a chance stop on by and see more of his work.

Whats On Your Chess Board Part II
Vimeo has some great talent and interesting videos amongst their large collection. I came across this video "Crossover" while checking out the blog, The Fox is Black. This short film was directed by Fabian Grodde who had some amazing 3D artists. It took me a minute to realize that those bug weren't real. It looks really real though. I'm still not sure the meaning of the video but I will go with what Bobby from TFIB said. He said that it’s about the spread of Christianity in the world, specifically in less civilized areas. Of course this is all told through tiny stink bugs and a giant spider, but I’m sure you’ll see what he was talking about.

Ray Villafane who is famous for creating 3D pumpkin carvings has created some amazing pieces. He has been working in the art of sculpting for about 15 years. He uses various size knives for carving his scary three-dimensional portraits from regular pumpkins. He also has a tutorial on how to carve a pumpkin like one of his. The funny thing I found out about Ray is that he is actually allergic to pumpkin.

Jeff Nishinaka is a master of paper manipulation. He is considered the world's premier paper sculptor and has constructed amazing 3D art with his skill in paper manipulation. On his website he states that he had an "ah-ha" moment on the idea of using paper when he was in college. From then on, he began experimenting with different papers, finding ways to shape, bend, and round the edges on them. He also stated that he wanted to manipulate paper in the least invasive way, to keep the integrity and feel of it. Paper to him is a living, breathing thing that has a life of it's own and from his art work you can tell that he is achieving his idea.
3D Art Made of Paper
Since I have been on a 3D art kick I thought I would pick another one that I thought was interesting. This commercial below was made in 2008 for Royal Bank of Canada. The concept was very simple, a man wakes up one morning with endless legs and decides to take advantage of the situation by easily traveling the world with his kids. This video caught my attention due to the style and design of the 3D characters and the textures and color patterns used in the video. Plus it has the Shins "New Slang" song playing in the background. You can't go wrong with the Shins. If your interested in checking out more video's by fxandmatt then check them out on Vimeo.
