The 1982 Commodore 64 is making a comeback. It not an old replica either. The C64 Home Computer ($140) houses its internals inside a full-size keyboard, letting you run any software compatible with the original C64 or Commodore VIC-20. In addition, it includes a Games Carousel mode with a micro-switch joystick and 64 pre-loaded titles. It connects via HDMI to modern monitors and TVs, and has a USB port for software updates and loading your own applications.

I have always been a Logitech junkie and that's because I feel that their products serve a purpose and they work with ease. One area that I think will help serve a good purpose is the Logitech M600 Touch Mouse or what some would call the Magic Mouse of PC-centric users. This mouse has a large responsive touch surface, scrolling and swiping where ever your fingertips rest on the mouse. The scrolling with this mouse is as smooth as scrolling on a touch screen Smartphone. Its optical sensor provides plenty of accuracy, and its tiny receiver creates a solid 2.4 GHz wireless connection up to 5 other devices but it will run you about $70.00 dollars.

Vizio has joined in the market of computer business and the company is ready to announce its new line of all-in-one computers and laptops at CES this week. Vizio really took in the motto "design is king" when they designed these machines. They definitely raised the bar when it came to the all-in-one desktops and laptop designs. They kept them clean and minimal but yet functional and practical. The Vizio Computer Lineup ($TBA) consists of a 27 and 24-inch all-in-one desktop. If you're wondering where the PC part is, it's at the base of the monitor. Their lineup also consists of a 14 and 15.6-inch slim notebooks, and a 15.6-inch full-size notebook. These beautiful aluminum and stainless steel crafted machines will be launching in the spring of 2012.

Samsung Series 9 Monitor 27" Quad hi-def ($1,199) is nothing but a cutting-edge, sophisticated design that blends with any decor. It has a brushed aluminum finish and screen that almost seems like it's floating in mid-air. The connections on the monitor are integrated into the base allowing for a streamlined appearance. It even has anti-glare edge-to-edge tempered glass display and a slim profile. The Series 9 monitor also has the ability to produce over one billion colors with an amazing resolution of 2560 x 1440 (WQHD), which is four times more detail than a traditional HD panel. One of the coolest features on this monitor is the Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) for MHL-enabled smart phones and tablets.
By linking their Android MHL-compatible smartphone, users can enjoy content from their mobile devices directly on the much larger screen and with the benefit of rich, built-in stereo audio. They can also keep an eye on their smartphone, seamlessly browse to it and even charge the device for added convenience.

Love Hulten went above and beyond in his casemod, who could blame him. It's such a beautiful piece of work. Some of you may even have thought that this casemod was from the 50s and I think the artist captured that. In reality this is a PC modcase that the artist calls the "Sputnik 0667". It takes you back to the time when computers had built-in designs and used trapezoid lines and angles in its design. The designer also went to great lengths to even capture the audience more with poster ads to give it a more realistic and retro feel.

In art of design concepts the use of environmental sounds solutions are on the rise. Design Hara is one of those companies who was looking to make a small and stylish computer that was built with recyclable green material. This eco-friendly computer has a recyclable green chassis and uses only harmless materials, such as natural wood for the side panels which are not chemically antiseptic treated. The front cover of the computer can be made from natural sheep leather if you so chose. The internal segments of the PC are connected by a bolts and nuts structure, making it easier to separate so recyclable e-waste can be removed.
The unit is compatible with Mini-ITX small motherboards, and uses only a third of the energy consumed by desktop computers. It also features HDMI and DVI outputs and has an Intel Core2Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.

Designing A Greener PC
Apple has unveiled it's new Tablet called the iPad. Apple will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499 which is a lot cheaper than most would have expected from Apple. The new iPad looks to be just a overly large version of the iPhone which I think most will agree in that department.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage.Carrying a custom 1 GHz "Apple A4" chip, the iPad weighs in at 1.5 pounds and is .5-inch thin. All iPad models have an accelerometer, compass, speakers, a microphone, and a 30-pin dock connector. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. The iPad screen is an OLED back lit which is a plus. Just a note on the iPad it does not allow you to run more than one app at a time. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge. The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size. The iPad will start shipping in 60 days. And, then later, they will have 3G models. The Non-3G models will be available in March.
Now if your looking for an iPad that has 3G services you will have to wait longer and pay more in price and also have a subscription with AT&T for the data plan. AT&T will have two tiers of data plan will be available without contracts: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited data usage. The 3G models will cost you $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory. These models will be available in April.
Jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The iPad comes with software including a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen. Applications designed for the iPhone can run on the iPad. Apple is also releasing updated tools for software developers to help them build iPhone and iPad programs.
Now here comes the task of convincing the consumer that they need this product. So many of use out there already have laptops and smartphones. Is this something that you think you would use or want. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
