Some people still prefer paper and hand writing stuff, but what if it was digital but felt like paper and you could write on it? The reMarkable Paper Tablet ($380) does just that and they aim to bridge the gap by offering digital convenience with a truly paper-like experience. At its heart is a cutting-edge 10.3-inch, 226 PPI E Ink display, covered with high-friction surface materials so it doesn't just look like paper, but feels like it, too. The accompanying pen has tilt detection, 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity, and virtually zero lag. And unlike a paper notebook, the 8GB of internal storage gives you a nearly endless (100,000) number of pages for reading, writing, and sketching.

We all love our fire alarms in our houses right? Well how about this alternative that brings out the tech side of a fire alarm. The Nest Protect($130) is a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector that won't wreck your ear drums if you left the pizza rolls in the oven too long. It features a glowing status ring (green means everything is okay, yellow gives you a warning about a potential problem, and red means there's an emergency), real voice alerts, and with a simple wave of the hand the detector knows to not go into full red alert mode. It can also give you updates to your phone or tablet if the detector goes off or needs its batteries changed. Would you replace your outdated alarm with one of these? Find out more info from the video below.
Samsung announced the launch of its new Samsung ATIV Q tablet that runs both Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2. The 13.3" panel features a 3200 x 1800 resolution (276 PPI). Impressive! Android runs in a VM on top of Windows 8. Networking, storage and CPUs are all virtualized resources. There's even a dedicated key on the keyboard to switch between OS's. The Samsung ATIV Q is powered by a Intel Haswell Core i5 processor, and features include 4GB of DDR3L, a 128GB solid state disk (SSD) and connections for USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI outputs are provided as well as 720p HD video and lastly a microSD card slot for expansion. So there seems to be a big buzz about a new FREE iPad app called Flipboard. This app gives you a reason to feel good about your decision to drop $500 bucks or more on your iPad. Flipboard is a new "social magazine" application that grabs info from your Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as from other sources around the web, and presents them in a magazine-like layout, complete with large images, clean typefaces, and a general panache that goes well beyond the average client. This app from watching the video posted below makes me want to open my wallet just to have this app. Flipboard is more than likely the cream of the crop on being able to integrate your content to make it easier and more organized so that your always up to date on social media. Apple has unveiled it's new Tablet called the iPad. Apple will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499 which is a lot cheaper than most would have expected from Apple. The new iPad looks to be just a overly large version of the iPhone which I think most will agree in that department.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage.Carrying a custom 1 GHz "Apple A4" chip, the iPad weighs in at 1.5 pounds and is .5-inch thin. All iPad models have an accelerometer, compass, speakers, a microphone, and a 30-pin dock connector. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. The iPad screen is an OLED back lit which is a plus. Just a note on the iPad it does not allow you to run more than one app at a time. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge. The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size. The iPad will start shipping in 60 days. And, then later, they will have 3G models. The Non-3G models will be available in March.
Now if your looking for an iPad that has 3G services you will have to wait longer and pay more in price and also have a subscription with AT&T for the data plan. AT&T will have two tiers of data plan will be available without contracts: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited data usage. The 3G models will cost you $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory. These models will be available in April.
Jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The iPad comes with software including a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen. Applications designed for the iPhone can run on the iPad. Apple is also releasing updated tools for software developers to help them build iPhone and iPad programs.
Now here comes the task of convincing the consumer that they need this product. So many of use out there already have laptops and smartphones. Is this something that you think you would use or want. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
