It has been some time since I have done anything related to web design. So let me get started then and give you some different image gallery options to use on your website. jQuery image galleries and sliders are very common on adding to your portfolio sites and are also useful for any other type of site for displaying images and photos. They also provide a better user experience and make viewing images easier and more stylish to your website.
So being in the spirit of the almighty Monday. I have found a couple of JQuery image sliders and galleries plugins that can give your galleries a much needed stylish look to go with that stylish website.
Demo | Download This image slider was initially conceived to create 3D transitions between slides, turned out to be a convenient and multifunction solution that can be applied in a range of website building areas, from content slider to feature slider and image & banner rotators.
Demo | Download Galleria is a javascript image gallery written in jQuery. It loads the images one by one from an unordered list and displays thumbnails when each image is loaded.
I'm always on the look out for new artists and designers that catch my attention. Drew Rois is one of those artist that caught my attention with his collection of Space Posters. He started a little studio called Rokk Hard which he states is a amalgamation of two very different genres of music; Metal and Disco. With powerful visual hailing from both genres, they are inseparable in my mind, and this is what drives my work.
What I like about his space poster collections is that what seems to be a simple design can really be seen as a multitude of layers which comprises to make a modern simple look. I would have to say though my favorite one is the Astroknot posters with its vintage style look and its great choice of colors to match the style in which he was going for. It's like looking at a rip in the universe and you only get a strange glimpse of Earth. (Sorry had to geek out for a minute). If you want to check out more of his work or follow him on his social networks check out his website.
Bonobo became a favorite of mine after hearing his song "Terrapin" which was release back in 1999 by Tru Thoughts. He then in 2000 released his first LP "Animal Magic" which was self produced and he grew quickly to become the new down-tempo pioneer. In 2003 Bonobo switched labels and came over to Ninja Tune in which he produced three albums under this label. This includes his new album"Black Sands".
The new album "Black Sands" is Bonobo's newest album since 2006. This album was release in March of 2010 and it couldn't have came at a better time. Simon Green has once again provided us with a electronic plethora of hip hop/ jazzy hybrid mixed with the already well achieved textured sounds from his previous albums. Bonobo I guess you can say is a medley of jazz, funk, soul, electronic, pop, hip-hop, trip-hop, drum and bass, lounge, classical, and so on. Its very hard to stick him into one genre of music due to his vast style and arrangements of his songs. In listening to the new album you will find this to be true as you go from one song to the next. The album has a flow to it that will go by unnoticed throughout the album. So check it out and let me know what you think of the album. Below is a 10 minute teaser of the album.
If you have some money and your not sure what to do with it then here is an idea. The Futuristic Strand Craft 122 Yacht ($TBA). This stylish and sleek yacht has a futuristic exterior, a stylish art deco-inspired interior with overly large 52-inch LED TVs, Bang Olufsen sound systems, four staterooms, and salon areas, over 14,000 horsepower capable of driving the craft to speed over 50 knots. This yacht is not the only thing that comes with the boat. It also includes a handcrafted super-car with a 880hp twin turbo V12 engine. So just in case you were like my boats awesome but it's still missing something. Oh I know what its missing my car to match my boat combo. Well guess what your in luck then.
When you think of a sculpture you think of statues or things that don't move. Well this is not the case for one artist. Theo Jansen who is a talented Dutch artist that creates kinetic sculptures which resemble animals and are able to walk using the power of wind. Jansen is looking to eventually let these creatures roam free on the beach to live on their own. These creatures use different styles of wind capturing and also have an understanding of if an obstacle is in the way and it will walk back in the opposite direction. Below are some videos that will give you an understanding and a demo of these animari and their creator.

I found this website Kharma yesterday from designer NoPattern on his twitter page. NoPattern was promoting this site because he is a part of what they're all about. What I found intriguing about the concept of this clothing retailer is that with each product that they make, and each piece that is purchased, it benefits a cause that's real and human. What this company does is find what inspires them. Kharma stated that they love uniqueness; they love people who are changing the world in unique ways. So they make pieces that will support them and help spread their message.
On the Kharma site it tells you who the designer is and what charity the shirt is representing. Theirs a limit of 150ct per shirt so they are limited. Once you click on a shirt that fits your fancy it will give you a description of the charity and what it's about and it even tells you what percentage of the sale goes to the designer. Kharma definitely has the right idea and a great concept going on. They have a collaborative, cause-driven, lifestyle brand aimed at colliding the worlds of consumption and good deeds per their site and I couldn't agree more. So start buying away and start sporting your style while supporting your cause.
Dan May who is a painter has caught my attention with his world of mystery and intriguing creatures. From what I have read he spends a lot of his time creating dreamlike environments that transcend space and time. Each of his works has a eerie feeling yet a wondrous imagination of wondering what the background story of each of his creatures are. Dan states that his delightful yet haunting images are often based in personal observations of both human's and nature's relationships with each other, blended with a healthy dose of whimsy, fantasy and cautious relevance...
Dan is very well know in the art community. His artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout the US and abroad. Dan has collaborated with numerous publications, design firms, advertising agencies, and publishing houses. Some of his clients include WIRED, St. Louis Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, Aspen Magazine, Village Voice Media, AOL Productions, 20th Century FOX, and VIZ Media.
If you like harps then check out this bad boy. This will blow your mind it's the Eigenharp Alpha which roughly cost $4,600 to 5,800 dollars. The Eigenharp Alpha is a mixture between a woodwind and keyboard, offering up an unorthodox musical control paradigm that includes a breath pipe, 120 keys, 12 percussion keys, two strip controllers, and multiple pedal inputs, all of which our ran into a Mac to produce a multitude of sounds. Just check out the videos below and see what I'm talking about.
